The trouble with Roundup-ready crops

The trouble with Roundup-ready crops

This is the sweetened, condensed version of what GMOs (genetically modified organisms)  are doing to our bodies.  We NEED probiotics to live, and live well.  Most of us do not have the chemistry background to understand all of these reports, but the main point is that these chemicals enter the plants.  We eat the plants and these chemicals stay in the small intestine.  This weakens your immune system.

  • The major danger of genetically engineered foods may be related to the increased use of glyphosate, the active ingredient in Monsanto’s weed killer Glyphosate, which is the most common weed killer in the US and just happens to be more toxic than DDT. Roundup, can accumulate and persist in the soil for years, where it kills off beneficial microbes and stimulates virulence of pathogens
  • Since organically-farmed fields are not doused with glyphosate, organic fields still contain beneficial soil bacteria that actually hinder pathogens in and on the food from multiplying out of control. This may be yet another reason why organic foods are less prone to be contaminated with disease-causing pathogens than conventionally-grown foods
  • When applied to crops, glyphosate becomes systemic throughout the plant, so it cannot be washed off. And once you eat this crop, the glyphosate ends up in your gut where it can decimate your beneficial bacteria. This can wreak havoc with your health as 80 percent of your immune system resides in your gut and is dependent on a healthy ratio of good and bad bacteria
  • Glyphosate is a strong chelator, meaning it immobilizes critical micronutrients, rendering them unavailable to the plant. As a result, the nutritional efficiency of genetically engineered (GE) plants is profoundly compromised. Micronutrients such as iron, manganese and zinc can be reduced by as much as 80-90 percent in GE plants.

We need to  be proactive, and protect our food sources.  Please visit the website:  www.codexfund.com     Print and sign the petitions,  and you will be able to make your voice heard.

Until next time,

I’m very glad you touched on this subject, as it has more recently been brought to my attention. I have been attempting to research more on this subject every week, and am just convinced there is no beneficial alternative. As you are aware of the chemicals that are placed in the GMO’s to help them combat against pesticides, as well as preservation, there is also a terminator gene that makes seeds lose their ability to regenerate. This to say, that after they have produced their flowering once, they are useless. This seems to help the GMO’s main producer, MONSANTO (everyone should look this name up and investigate for themselves), but the kicker that was not expected was this terminator gene travels through pollination, and in turn effects other crops!! Now as I mentioned above, you should research MONSANTO yourself, due to the “VEGGIE LIBEL LAW” which I actually researched yesterday, there is no documentation that truthfully can back the negative effects the GMO’s are having on all of us. this ‘VEGGIE LIBEL LAW’ (which is also effective in Texas) prevents ANYONE from talking smack about food producing companies… at all… Prevents in how, you ask? By allowing the food companies to sue anyone who tries to negatively talk about their products in any case, and they will have the upper-hand, as your statements will only be accepted if they can be scientifically proven. (Who judges what would be scientifically factual to begin with?) If it is not allowed to try to spread the message on the effects of the GMO’s, then that seems to limit anyone’s research. These are big time companies! And if you get sued by them, even if you win, they have enough resources to drag it on, which in multiple cases, has resulted in bankruptcy for the smack talker. Even the researchers (from public agriculture universities) that are supposed to be keeping these companies in line, are being funded by these companies, which in turn makes them keep their mouths shut of any conflicting evidence that may arise… It really is messed up… SO MUCH FOR THE FIRST AMENDMENT… Sure, you have free speech… except when it comes to the food you eat.
Do you have any suggestions for safe alternatives? Because I’m losing hope… I see the only safe way is having your own farm… But who knows where those seeds came from?

    • Wow—I see I hit a point of passion here. Yes, there are things we can do. We can tell our grocery stores that we want to purchase organic produce, milk, and meat. We can refuse to buy GMOs. This has been successfully accomplished in Europe. California has just passed a law (or are I’m the process) which requires GMO labeling. Things are changing. You can put pressure On Your legislators to craft laws to protect our food supply.

I suppose I am just aggravated by the lack of publicity and information. Too many people worry about the wrong issues in this world, and let things slip through. I know it is impossible to know everything or close to everything that is going on in the world (or next door for that matter), but when the news media reports on the most retarded issues, and mix them in with the real matters that go on, the weak-minded tend to be distracted by the pretty colors. I am trying to beat that controlling out of my head… No one is perfect. Thanks for the response 🙂 You are awesome.

  • I run a bamboo farm and we stopped the Roundup all together about 3 years ago and just choose to use more labor to weed. I found that the quality of the plants in ground were hugely improved and earthworms are back!!
