Tylenol recall

Johnson & Johnson is recalling all the infant Tylenol in the US market.

Some of the parents who have purchased this product have experienced trouble with the bottles.  Apparently the protective cover on the top of the bottles are not working correctly.  The design has a flow restrictor, and apparently the design is flawed, and the caregivers are giving the infants too much Tylenol.

This can be serious for many reasons:

  1. Tylenol reduces the body’s ability to produce glutathione, which is a natural antioxidant.
  1. Using Tylenol reduces lung capacity
  1. Using Tylenol as an infant/toddler raises the risk of teenage asthma 250%

For all these reasons, I would urge parents to think twice before dosing their infant with Tylenol, or any other brand of Acetaminophen.

Until next time,

Polly
