Homeoprophylaxis instead of vaccination

I am often asked about the pros and cons of vaccination.  I do not want to get involved in a political debate here, but for the record, I don’t vaccinate.  More than thirty years ago, I started the first round of vaccinations with my number one man-child.  He had a violent reaction to the ‘p’ part of the DPT vaccine.  My pediatrician advised me to never, I repeat NEVER vaccinate this child again.  I followed his advice, and am so very thankful that I lived in a country where it was OK for a physician to advise the patient based on individual needs and not a cultural mandate.  At that time, I did not live in America.  When my family did return to the US, I obtained exemptions for future vaccinations.

Several years ago when the flu pandemic struck, I did not take the flu shot.  In fact, I did some research, and found that Dr Mercola had posted some staggering data on the fact that our country had a large backlog of flu vaccines that would soon expire, hence the flu vaccine push.   http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/06/24/swine-flu-experts-were-paid-by-drug-companies.aspx

That may be more of an extreme view; however, I still choose not to vaccinate.  That does not mean that I do nothing.  I have had an interest in homeopathy for several years now, and  I heard about a practice called ‘homeoprophylaxis.’  This is a long word that basically means stimuli is introduced into the body which puts the immune system on high alert for invaders.  Homeoprophylaxis is the preventative side of the ‘law of similar.’

This makes perfect sense to me.  After all, a tuned-up immune system is how we conquer all sickness and disease.  Why would I want to pharmaceutical with all the adjuvant toxins into a perfectly healthy body.

If you are not conversant with homeopathy, one of its premier tenants is ‘the law of similars.’ Colloquially put, ‘like cures like.’  This means that a vaccine nosode is thought by some to revve the body up and have the immune system on full alert for the first onslaught of flu pathogens.  I have used this technique with my own grandchildren.  My daughter was concerned about the news of Whooping Cough spreading throughout our state.  However, she does not want to vaccinate.  We use Homeoprophylaxis so that our precious baby is protected, without the toxic burden of a vaccine.

So, the real answer to the vaccination problem is not to do the vaccine or do nothing.  Doing nothing is not an option.  Homeoprophylaxis is doing something.  Do your research, and decide on the best option for your family.

Until next time,

Dr. Polly
