Bio-Identical Hormones

We have many women coming in and asking about bio-identical hormones.  Bio-identical hormones have the same structure (chemical and molecular) as the body’s own hormones.   The problem is that we don’t know what these hormones are made from in most cases.

Many creams are made from yams and soybeans.  In the United States, almost all (95%) of soy is genetically modified.  Because soy has negative interaction with estrogen and thyroid function, we do not recommend soy products for our female clients.

Why is hormone replacement necessary?   Cardiovascular health in women is dependent on estrogen.  Synthetic estrogens are harmful to the cardiovascular system.  Bio-identical estrogens are cardio-protective.  Most cardiovascular events in women happen after menopause (95%).  For this reason, we encourage every post-menopausal woman to use estrogen if nothing else.   Besides being cardio-protective, estrogen helps promote skin elasticity, while reducing fatigue and anxiety.  Dr Hunter

Progesterone also is helpful for alleviating some of the common symptoms of menopause:  breast tenderness and vaginal dryness.  Again, we do not recommend soy based products.  Progesterone may help prevent osteoporosis, uterine and breast cancer.   It is helpful for promoting sleep as well

DHEA is a hormone precursor that is produced in the adrenal glands.  This hormone is needed before the body can synthesize either Progesterone or Estrogen.  Besides helping skin combat the negative effects of aging, DHEA also helps with immune function and is essential in building muscle.

We definitely recommend Dr. Julia T. Hunter’s products if you are looking for a good, healthy, non-toxic product line.

Until next time,

I think it is very important if any Health Practitioners recommend natural hormone therapy that It is wise from a DRS perspective to get your hormones checked and then know how to read the blood work. Understanding how one can metabolize the hormones and knows the proper ratio between the Estrogen and Progesterone feed back loop to the pituitary.
