New study shows that Berries help slow mental decline.

This is good news for our seniors.  Eating berries, blueberries or strawberries, helps keep cognitive function.  The study shows that these berries are rich in the type of flavonoid called anthocyanidins.  These flavonoids cross the blood/brain barrier, and seem to seek out the parts of the brain involved in learning and memory.

The study followed seniors for over two decades, and found that those who included berries (two or more servings per week) were on average 2.5 years younger mentally.  For this study, a serving was equivalent to half a cup.

Remember there is 40-60% more nutrient content in organic produce.

Until next time,
