The Houston Chronicle, 10/13/12
Drs. Roizen and Oz tell us that patients taking blood pressure medications are at risk for lip cancer. Patients taking these medications for five years or longer have a higher risk for skin cancer. The risk rises from 42% to 322% (NOT a typo!) According to the doctors, only the beta blocker atenolol does not increase this risk.
Additionally, the herbs ginkgo and St. John’s Wort also increase sun sensitivity.
Please protect yourself with sunscreen with at least 30 SPF.
