Organic? What does that mean?

It is easy to think you are making a good decision when you opt for natural or organic foods.  The food industry has really capitalized on these terms.  Here is an easy way to see what you are getting in the store.

USDA Organic   Means that the food has met all the standards necessary to be certified organic

100% organic =foods are made with 100% organic ingredients

Organic = foods are made with at least 95% organic ingredients

Made with Organic ingredients = foods at least 70% organic ingredients.  The other 30% has restrictions.

Organic fruits and vegetables usually have 40% more nutrients per ounce.  You really do get more when you buy organic.

Until next time,
