Mentoring

One of our greatest opportunities is the opportunity to mentor.  In researching the word mentor, and the deed, mentoring, I ran across this definition:  Mentorship refers to a personal developmental relationship in which a more experienced or more knowledgeable person helps a less experienced or less knowledgeable person.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mentoring).

I remember when I first started in Iridology.   I recall being very overwhelmed with the intricacies of the iris.  I could look at it one way and come to a conclusion. I could look at it a different way, and my analysis would change.  The possibilities were endless, and I was frustrated.  Fortunately, I had a mentor.  She was also an iridologist, and had been instrumental in my learning about iridology.

Being able to turn to a more knowledgeable person helped me become conversant. Being able to turn to a mentor enabled me to reach outside my limitations.  I learned more of what I did not know as I watched her work with my photos and my analysis.  Eventhough I  revered my teacher, I was fearful that my efforts would not stack up against her years of experience.  The encouragement that she extended as she took my limited knowledge of analysis and showed me where I had overlooked a principle, or a significant sign was a gift.  It was a gift to my client and a gift to my soul.  Because she spent time with me, helping me, coaching me, leading me, I am a better iridologist today.

Look around you.  Whom can you mentor?  Everyone of us is gifted, and there are countless opportunities to extend our gifts in such a was as to make another’s soul fat with accomplishment. Share.  Share our knowledge, share our resources, share ourselves.  In so doing, we become something greater together than we ever were alone.
